Supper’s On Me

This past week I took the decision to stop breastfeeding Alfie.

The time just felt right for both of us, not only as I go back to work in two weeks but Alfie went to bed for two consecutive nights without being fed by me. I guess we both realised that there was no real benefit anymore.

Must say it seems really strange that after nine and a half months I wont be solely responsible for the bedtime feed but it does give us more flexibility in Alfie’s bedtime routine.

Also it now feels as if Alfie is all the family’s baby instead of just mine, more so for Daddy as it was really easy for him to feel a little left out at times.

Up, Up & Away

Alfie has come a long way recently, he is walking around the furniture with ease – he is really quite quick now so really keeping us on our toes! Also he can pull himself up which can be a little hairy to watch as he looks a little bit like Bambi on the ice, but he amazes us how he can now problem solve and work out how to get himself up and steadied.

Whilst browsing online I came across this cool contraption called a moon walker – it’s really just the groin and straps of a door bouncer but allows you to help the child to walk in a more natural position, i.e with their hands free to grab and examine area around them.

Both Michael and I are pretty sure that we will have a walking post in the near future if Alfie continues at the rate he is now. Really exciting, but neither of us can believe just how quickly it has come.

Swine Flu

I took Alfie to get his swine flu vaccine this week.

To be honest Michael and I took a considerable period of time discussing whether Alfie should receive it – but having talked to Dr. Sutherland at Springfield Medical Centre we opted in.

On the day Alfie was really good, I’m sure he knew he was getting an injection there was a little tension in the room but as he was getting the injection there was no fuss and no crying which I was so thankful for.
