This Bites….!!

Alfie has yet again come into a teething stage and boy is he letting us know he’s not hapy about it!

Whilst in Dundee we went through two bibs and t-shirts due to the copious amounts of slavering.

Although we know he cannot help his mood it has taken a complete U-turn with a Jekyll and Hyde like quality. The only thing that is keeping him part human s the Ashton and Parson’s teething powders and of course Nurofen.

Hopefully we can get over this bout and as we are on approximately tooth 14 we are well on the way to a full house.

All Aboard!!

Alfie and I took his first train ride today. At first I’m not sure e was too fond of the whole experience but after the tannoy lady spoke to us and Alfie got up to the window, the trip was a lot better received.  The reason we took the train is Alfie is really into Thomas the Tank Engine at the moment. It’s the only programme that you could attempt to say that he watches on T.V.

We met Granny Sheila at her work and go for a spot of shopping. Mummy was most displeased that she never got any clothes for herself. As for me I was spoilt as usual…nothing changes.

Glowers and Scowls!!

Alfie has in the last month discovered the ability to glower at us. It’s really quite cute, and funny as he has he ability to do it just at the right time.  A good example is when you are trying to tell him off for something, and he narrows his brows to give you the ‘evil eye’!

I guess all kids are the same, they very quickly find a way of getting around a telling off.

Hopefully Michael and I can keep a straight face long enough in future when we need to have a little word with Alfie.

‘Big Boy Bed’ – Here I Come…..

Last week, Michael and I decided, with some discussion with Denise (Health Visitor) that we would take the side off of Alfie’s cot. This is on the back of Alfie having not spent a whole night in his cot for two weeks.

On the whole the experience has gone really well, the first night we had a tumble. The second night he slept all night, and since then it has been random whether he has spent all night in his bed or the spare  room with either myself or Daddy.

I should say that the edge if the bed/ floor is well padded so when Alfie has fallen out he has had a soft landing each time.

Last night, thankfully, we got a full nights sleep from him and he is better for it – far more ready for mischief.

So hopefully this is another milestone under Alfie’s belt.

New Tooth – Finally!!!

Alfie has at last cut another tooth!

We know it can be a drawn out process but to be honest we were getting a litlle bit worried as the last tooth to make an appearance was Oct/ Nov 2009 – so approximately 7 months ago.

It’s not as if he wasn’t teething at all in that time. We have had the bad moods, hot red cheeks, bad nappies and nappy rash several times. It’s more that there was nothing to show for all the effort and that was just us – obviously it was much worse for Alfie.

On the whole, he coped really well and let’s face it there are only another 11 teeth to go(!) So in theory of they all take the same length of time he should have them all aged 7 1/2!!

Tea Guests

We had Granny Janis and Grandad Ian for Sunday tea this week, which was a nice change as we usually take week about going to each of the grandparents house.

Mummy cooked a pastry dish and we all ate salad with it – it was really tasty!

Afterwards we all went outside to play on the grass at the back of our house. Daddy, Grandad and Mummy were playing Frisbee and Granny Janis and I walked around looking at the plants.  I found buttercups, daisies, wild shrubs, trees, and Stickywilly.

Next time we will have to branch out and explore somewhere different – I’m sure we will have a great time.

Tiny Tearaway – Tartan Army

So England ‘Drew’ again – HA!

Maybe we should be supporting our neighbour but can you image what it would be like if they won.

Michael and I are putting their form down to Alfie having his first Scotland kit! We bought it last Saturday and England ‘drew’ with U.S.A and today he wore it and they ‘drew’ against Algeria.

Watch this space for the last group matches…….

‘Demon’ Barber Strikes Again….

Alfie has had his second haircut this week.

Daddy decided it was to be a real ‘boy’ haircut as the first had been a tidy up of his ‘virgin’ hair.

The girl at Ian Beattie’s barbers did a great job especially as towards the end Alfie wasn’t interested in staying still at all.

Grandad Ian was happy to see Alfie’s hair cut as for the past few weeks the cry has been to get ‘that bloomin hair cut’.

Teething Again

Alfie is yet again in the midst of teething.  We have the bad moods, upset stomach and boy do we have the nappy rash to prove it. We have tried everything to clear it up, in the last day we seem to have turned a bit of a corner but it still seems to be bothering him quite a lot.

However this has been going on for a week and as of yet we have no teeth to show for the symptoms. It has now been 6 months or so since Alfie has cut any teeth, not unsurprising as the first eight were here so quickly.

Hopefully this will be him for a little while as Daddy and I need a bit more sleep of a night.

Wedding Bells

Alfie attended his first wedding on Saturday May 1st.

My cousin Barry married his fiancé Nikki Skinner at Cults Parish Church Aberdeen with their reception at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa, Pitfodels.

A lot of the family attended which was great to see everyone on Nikki and Barry’s special day.

They both looked fabulous as did the whole wedding party.

Alfie got a few mentions as we dressed him in a kilt for the day – he looked so handsome.

Congratulations to Barry and Nikki, we wish you every happiness.
