Today I went for a little wander when my mummy’s back was turned. It was only for a couple of seconds but I just had to take my chance. I managed to climb up two stairs before mum caught up to me. She was really impressed and let me climb to the top which is 15 stairs in total!

Mummy was so proud of me that she made me do it all over again when Daddy came home that night – it was no problem to me though.

Now that I have mastered going upstairs I will have to turn my hand to getting back down…

But now I am able to trot around the living room as I want. From Mummy, Daddy and Gran and Grandads faces the looked really pleased with my latest development.

Bring on the walking totally of my own accord – then running, jumping……..

I went to Granny Janis’ to play, she did a very good job. We played with my v-tech funfair, went to the church to do a couple of jobs and ate lunch and snack together.

Daddy picked me up after his work and he was able to play with me and gave me a bath which was lovely.

I think mummy was really sad to be leaving me but she does need some time away from me and I get to go to Grannies so it’s win win for me.

Alfie now weighs 21lbs and 1oz. And is 74cm long.

As Alfie still has a cough and cold, we have an appointment for the doctors tomorrow so hopefully we will know if it is just a cold or if he still has symptoms of tonsillitis.

This past week I took the decision to stop breastfeeding Alfie.

The time just felt right for both of us, not only as I go back to work in two weeks but Alfie went to bed for two consecutive nights without being fed by me. I guess we both realised that there was no real benefit anymore.

Must say it seems really strange that after nine and a half months I wont be solely responsible for the bedtime feed but it does give us more flexibility in Alfie’s bedtime routine.

Also it now feels as if Alfie is all the family’s baby instead of just mine, more so for Daddy as it was really easy for him to feel a little left out at times.

Alfie has come a long way recently, he is walking around the furniture with ease – he is really quite quick now so really keeping us on our toes! Also he can pull himself up which can be a little hairy to watch as he looks a little bit like Bambi on the ice, but he amazes us how he can now problem solve and work out how to get himself up and steadied.

Whilst browsing online I came across this cool contraption called a moon walker – it’s really just the groin and straps of a door bouncer but allows you to help the child to walk in a more natural position, i.e with their hands free to grab and examine area around them.

Both Michael and I are pretty sure that we will have a walking post in the near future if Alfie continues at the rate he is now. Really exciting, but neither of us can believe just how quickly it has come.

To be honest Michael and I took a considerable period of time discussing whether Alfie should receive it – but having talked to Dr. Sutherland at Springfield Medical Centre we opted in.

On the day Alfie was really good, I’m sure he knew he was getting an injection there was a little tension in the room but as he was getting the injection there was no fuss and no crying which I was so thankful for.

We saw all of our little friends this week all there to have a quick check up with the health visitors.

All was well with Alfie this week which was a relief after last week. He now weighs 20lbs and 6ozs. As he is more active Alfie hasn’t put on so much weight since he was last weighed but when we plotted his weight on the graphs it is back on the 50th percentile which is ideal.
